Burning Bridges Poem by Christina Moore

Burning Bridges

Through the smoke you'll see my eyes
Drifting as if dead
If you look you'll see regrets
Passing through my head

I'm burning all my bridges
In hopes they'll disappear
I lit the torch and struck the match
And bit back all my fear

And so before you hurt me
I'll get rid of you instead
Before my gates are all let down
And all my thoughts are read

I'll burn down all my bridges
Even if you disagree
But, I wonder, as I walk away
Will you ever think of me?
