Bush Poets Poem by Francis Duggan

Bush Poets

Of country people and country life they write
And at bush poetry readings their poems they do recite
Their poetry that can be sung as song
To an old school one can say they belong.

Bush poets are in a grouping of their own
Some of them quite famous and others not that well known
Their great gifts with others they do freely share
And to spin a yarn in rhyme none with them can compare.

In the country town where rural rhyme takes pride of place
The local bush poet's is a well known face
Seen as an important person in the town
The local poet know of regional renown.

In every country town a celebrated bush poet
A person seen as one worthy of note
A poet who with rhyme words has a way
Lets hear it for the bush poets of today.
