I left the group today
thinking I should go home
and fight a different war
just go home and gather friends
from the hood
show them the value
of staying off the streets
gathering resources
taking care of the homeless
and putting food on their table
without ownership
comforting those in shelter
not with an MK 47
but with hands that once
pulled triggers of guns
to defend and survive
or protect without knowing
faces and families
none to call my own
so I left the group today
but did not make it home
where I wanted to be
