But I Do Poem by Michael Walkerjohn

But I Do

(What do you know)

About coffee, tea, or cigars
armed forces, special forces, space forces
eerie forces, unknown forces or
Spiders from Mars?
Again; What do you know?
Anything, person, place; about your friend?
Pretty important that is... knowing about your friend.
I chose a friend, more than four decades ago.
Everywhere I walked that friend chose that path also.
Found this friend in the gutter; or half of it?
Yea; this friend was an it, something not
of a gender... it was rolled and somewhat damp.
A thrown away some thing; yet still part of it's whole.
So, what do you know about my friend to this point
in this wright? To this line of the read? From the gutter
came my friend; that is the extent of your gained
knowledge of my best friend... Yea;
"I got friends in low places"!
Know this tune? Garth Brooks made it popular...
Do you remember who penned the lyrics; wrote the score
and shopped this particular tone? No? Whatever!
Really and truly I do so love this term!
Let U. S. play... with a few words more...
Add to this prose' title this: What do I know about
you! Now that is an interesting supposition or is this
that messy quandary or maybe a good old inquisition?
Imagine this be the case: You and I, mano e' mano, in a
bowl of jello! You got the first move; better make
that move your best one... No second chances in
this ending of the biggest game. For this is that
end game, that we as a single species are currently
abet quietly discussing- - we are just one thing
shy of having a consensus. What are we missing?
Take your moment's time now. Just for a single moment more...
A quick three count moment; that three card monty count moment...
Ya got the answer now? The answer is: Yea, none of you
human or otherwise; have a clue!
But I do...
