Buy Me A Book Poem by Patrick Akhudu

Buy Me A Book

May I make a request?
Stay at home today, papa
And play with me
Stay at home today, mama
And tell me a story
Or could we do a picnic?
You never have time!
Then buy me a book! !

I may play with nanny
Or neighbor's mean kid,
But I need to feel
Your motherly love,
Your fatherly friendship!
You have no time for me.
To give me these things
Just buy me a book!

Recommend tv programs,
Buy me toys and dolls,
But I need to see places,
Feel true passion!
Take me out on a holiday
To escape this boredom!
Take me to walk the dog
In the neighbourhood park
Or just buy me a book!

You'll stay home today?
Urgent business can wait today?
No book for me at all?
I'll get something better?
You'll be there for me, papa?
You'll not neglect me, mama?
Heaven is finally here!
Allow me to grow up
Then buy me a book!
