Buzz Off Poem by Paul Brookes

Buzz Off

bees in my head buzz, a hive of a brain with too many
zzzzzzzzzzzs.
popular I'm not, still the thought hangs by an invisible thread
a darned worn blanket stitched and patched so many times

I write in a dark room
with only the light of a lone star to write by
shedding blue lights listening to blue songs
being true to yourself comes at a price
but you get no prizes an' no surprises
just too many zzzzzzzzzzzs

so the bees in my head buzz,
the lines are blurred by too many zzzzzzzzzzzs
the moon she rises, as always crisp and back lit,
a reflection of the sun and her self alone.
she shifts skyward then down and blinks out
why do we always see the dark side.

so many bees in my head buzzing
and not really contained, they slip out in too many zzzzzzzzzzzs.
riveted and pock marked,
yellow long toothed she claws she denies me sleep
and then the buzzing stops.
yeah right, because there are to many ZZZZZZZZZZZS
sleep silent comes to steal me away.
now there are too many ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZs
but no one to hear.

buzzy and deep, I especially enjoyed the originality of the 2nd and 3rd stanzas
