By His Side Poem by Clarissa Briseno

By His Side

I am sixteen,
And have a lot to live,
I have a life to enjoy,
And a future to face,
But I won't live this by myself,
Because I have him by my side,
His eyes brown as honey,
His perfect yet crazy smile,
His handsome look,
And his awesome personality.
Engaging in our marriage with him,
Has been the best thing I have ever done,
We have spent so many good moments,
And he has stood by me,
Just like he promised,
In good and bad.
Like seeing the sun hide his face and turn the sky a rainbow,
Like seeing the beauty of a droplet fall in a crystal clear creek and see the wave effect it causes,
Like walking through the autumn breezes and seeing the leafs twirl and feeling the wind hit you face,
Like walking hand in hand by the park and feel the other people craving the love we have,
Like many other moments you have made so special to me.
But, the thing I will never forget,
Our crazy first ride in the motorcycle,
I remember the sky was dark,
The wind was blowing hard,
And the clouds were about to cry,
We rode and the air hit my face,
I hugged him,
My heart beat increased as the miles went by,
And honestly I don't know what caused those palpitations:
Having him so close or the adrenaline rushing through my veins.
As I rode with him, for the first time I felt safe,
I thank him and all I can say is:
By his side I am never scared,
By his side I am always happy,
By his side my life is complete,
By his side I am safe.
And I hope,
That by the end of this life,
Like he promised,
I will die by his side.
