By The Bay Poem by Anisa Tara

By The Bay

Let's meet by the bay,
Come a little after twelve.
Bring all your ugly and beautiful,
I'll bring my colours as well.

We'll burn sorrow on a bonfire,
Sticking lament up a pole.
The waves may come for us,
But we'll have each other to hold.

This black canvas we'll ignite,
As the morning quietly paces.
Singing hurried songs to silhouettes,
Melodies for marred faces.

Run with me along sandy curves,
The trails forged are endless.
We'll take no heed of the day,
As she thrashes in the darkness.

I'll give you my treasury of words,
A compendium of tear-stained pages.
Every letter I've ever written,
In all of life's places.

Then bright horizons will pull us apart,
I'll count away the seconds with hope.
You'll make sad songs of my words,
Before the day overtakes us both.

Then we'll meet again by the bay,
Someday when we're both old.
I'll sing a wrong note you can't hear,
But we'll always have each other to hold.
