By The Lakeside

Rating: 5.0

Sitting alone by the lakeside
I was cocooned by the solace of the wind
As it whispers to me the sweet memories of the past,
That passes through the dancing Bamboo
On the other side of the lake,
And I found my cheeks being covered
By my bitter yet hopeful tears
For I have remembered every detail
Of your happy face
While you were with me
Sitting by the lakeside.

I remember the first time when we walked so long
Just to reach our favorite spot in this lake.
I remember how I imitated your gaits
As we walk along the dusty road
And try to bother you to walk faster
Every time you're being disturbed
By the butterflies chasing each other
Above the Sampaguita flowers,
And I remember how you insist on me
That I should come back
And waste a short time watching these creatures
Happily spend their golden hours.

I remember the first time we went here together,
We were throwing flat pebbles on the lake's surface
As we try to compete who can create more stone jumps,
And made me decide to lose at the end
So that I may snatch a glance at your victorious face.

But everything now is just good old memories,
The times when our hearts
Were as calm and at peace as the water on the lake,
Because we are now sailing on different sides of the lake
As we both pursue following our dreams
To serve one God.

I cannot embrace and care for you
More than He could,
And I surrender as I am sitting alone by the lakeside
And reminisce about all the happy moments we share.
I can boast nothing from you,
I can demand nothing from you,
As long as I can see you happy sailing
On the other side of the lake following your heart's desire,
I will be in my happiest state to see you
Serving God like a child full of joy,
playing rocks by the lakeside.
