I met a man long ago
or should I say I met his essence
I saw glimpses into his soul
that manifested in increments

through the years catching signs
of his very existence
allusively we intertwined
without the fullness of his presence

he darted in and out my range
and teased me with his substance
lingered moments I've sustained
each one my soul could reference

lovers touch went not in vain
exposed his true existence
he hovered faintly from my pain
while taunting my persistence

then his clearest reflection
arrived through circumstance
proving destiny's intentions
are fulfilled by way of chance
