Cactus-1 Poem by Namita Rani Panda

Cactus-1

In silvery landscape in the full moon so bright/
In the sea of darkness in the new moon night/
In the throbbing golden sands of the blazing summer/
In the spine-stirring chilly winter
I stand erect undaunted with indomitable grit
smiling with blooms so soft and bright.
Though having a cloak with strange sharp spines
my stem is fleshy, soft and waxy is my skin.
Rooted strongly to the rocky/sandy soil
I'm addicted to incessant struggle and toil.
I sit like a saint in deep meditation,
with unfailing devotion,
scattering ever-flowing love and optimism
amidst endless waves of pain
for a drop of rain!
