Cage Poem by Barry Middleton

Cage

will I break free of it
the cage has never seemed to fit

and yet where would I go
the cage is all of life I know

ah, but I can dream
maybe concoct a break out scheme

for it is not forbid
to live one's life full off the grid

and I am not too old
I'm almost there the truth be told

I know I'll touch the sky
if any man can reach that high

for every bird can soar
once it escapes the cage's door
