Calcutta is your dream city,
My dream city,
Our dream city,
But a dream is a dream,
Let it be a dream,
Do not get misled by dreams,
Dream you
As one cannot without,
But a dream a dream, .
The aeroplanes landing
At the airport,
Airhostesses outlandish,
Crowds ending it not,
So the vehicles lines
And the roadways dotted with
The shopping malls and plazas,
Towering flats over
With lives pulsating in them
Unmindful of the seasons changing
As life as usual.
Seasons come and go,
Days come and go,
There is no earth to roam on,
To stroll and enjoy nature
In the garden,
To have the contact with green grass,
The flowers to see blooming,
The sunbeams dancing at the door,
The break of the morning with bird-songs.
There is no time to talk to,
No break from the busy schedule, routine of life,
The flat is the centre,
The lift the crutches,
The water tank and the motor pump as water is life,
The source of shower bath and cleaning and washing,
The gas stove the source of food,
The garbage can as for to throw the waste to contain in
Under the strict vigilance and surveillance of the landlord.
The sub-metre tells of how much electricity do you consume,
The water machine measures it the water used for,
The CCTV takes the photos of your movement
If spacious or under scrutiny,
If have a car, keep it in the garage where vehicles are parked,
Leave the house in the morning by bus,
Come from the office in the evening by bus,
Keep waiting for
And this is but the daily routine of life.
