Call Me A Sinner Poem by Pallav Devgupta

Call Me A Sinner

Do you know me?
Often I mull over a trembling thought
Had I faced the Kaaba
Would it have been different?
Had I sipped the elixir of adorned temples
Would it have pained less?
How would it be
If it was all under the influence of a Zen Buddhist?
Would I be what I am today if I had savoured the forbidden juices of a foreign land?
What did I do to deserve the wax lusture of your youth, my love?
How am I still walking without his name?
Oh there, the Creator of the seven worlds
I am as weak as an eyelash made out of dust
Do you know me like I know you?
They told me million names of yours
I chose to defy the dunderheads
Am I a sinner or Have my tears reached you like I presented them to you at every aurora?
Before I turn to cerise ash
Look into my eyes once
And tell me you know me like I do
