Fakeer Poem by Pallav Devgupta

Fakeer

A cowherd boy I was today
For what looked like an infinite time
Sipping the succulent gusts
I lost a cow on a hill top
Ruffled, I wondered where to search
Another instant I could see my cow
In every leaf that longed for rain
In every spread of cloud
That bosomed endless sagas of garden of existence
Inside every ripe strawberry hanging from the shy branch
Inside every dove-dance of the wicked peacock
Inside every sigh of the restless night
Inside every nude dance of the night tide
Was I drunk, I asked my master
Skies smiled and cascaded love ambrosia on my shallow bones
Now I am the cow celebrating rain and life
Donned in mystic robes of love
I whisper the secret of cow
Only to the wet blades of grass
For I see cow only in fakeers who celebrate their being
And the thirsty seer in me moves to another land...!
