Call Me When You Get This (A Song) Poem by Jade Leven

Call Me When You Get This (A Song)

call me when you get this
even if it's late
I'll breathe to let you know I'm still there
even if I'm in an unconscious state

call me when you hear this
my shaking voice on the other line
struggling to get the words out right
thinking maybe it's not the right time

regretting something...
at least it's easy when it's not fun
admitting something...
well that's easier said than done

I really hope you get it
I hope you can find it in you to understand
when I touch you I can hear the rain falling
like my tears into your hand

call me when you get this
even if it's ten years later and you don't know where I am
find me walking alone in Central Park on a Friday night
at least pretend that you ever gave a damn

call me when you hear this
a song that I wrote for you when we were young
maybe you can feel it, too, as I sing a toast to what has been
the pain leaving my heart as the air leaves my lungs

I really hope you get it
I hope you can find it in you to understand
when I touch you I can hear the rain falling
like my tears into your hand

call me when you get this
a letter that I wish I had never sent
if I pick up and you are crying, I'll tell you I'm sorry
every word on that page was something else I never really meant

call me when you hear this
me saying your name and wishing on a star
I wish you lots of love and happiness
and I hope you can hear my heart beating
wherever you are
