Can I Forget? Forget That Paradise Lost! Poem by Mohammad Younus

Can I Forget? Forget That Paradise Lost!

Can I Forget? Forget That Paradise Lost!

Can I forget that paradise lost?
The scented breath of bees,
Whispering softly to my heart's ears,
Awakening me from illusion's sleep—
A sudden thrill, your nearness clear.

Desolate lay my hut in paradise,
Yet from afar, your call still echoes.
Through endless nights and days,
No one had seen you pass me by,
Yet your sweetest melodies lingered.

Dancing, I came, spinning to your symphonies—
Can I forget those moments of ecstasy,
When my spirit soared, unbound, and free
Until I came near to that forbidden tree?

Now I reclaim my beauty,
My maiden charms, once faded—
Lost in illusion's misty veils.
A weary traveler, I rest at last,
Cradled in my beloved's arms.

Let there be great rejoicing, no regrets!
Here, where streams of music flow,
Where waters glisten in my father's garden.
Here, light and praise in harmony abide.

Can I forget, my dear old home?
Here, I rest, yet follow the call divine.
To my father's embrace, I am decreed—
Never to forget, never to leave.
