Can I Say Sorry (A Covid Poem) Poem by Preena Mathew

Can I Say Sorry (A Covid Poem)

Can I say sorry...
Did I take time to worry...
For those who left in a hurry..
Living in my nest...
And just watch some run without rest...
When I think it's not me...
Some one else but not me...
Can I say sorry...

When I just read numbers each new day
And talk about sadness and delay....
Yearn for a normal day....
Not seeing.. how much is the pain...
Nursing...caring.... serving...
Drenched in a protective gear...
That is service with no fear....
Far from their own dear...
Faith is never in vain...
And know how God cares for you...

Child or a sage...
No matter what's the age...
All have made sure...
To believe home is a cage...
But not with any rage...
Now it seems to be best...
To live safely in our nest..
Did I take time to worry....

Can I say a sorry...
To all those who left in a hurry...
To find their loved ones..
Safely in their nests
God give peace and rest...
Is that we all deserve...
And the one who serve...
With no rest and sleep
Amidst all the chaos...
Trust such times will change...
And give peace to all alike...
Did I take time to worry...
Can I say sorry

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem when I felt very touched by the people who were working tirelessly- the nurses and doctors. Life was so difficult but still there was hope and faith that shined through.
