Can We Get It Back Poem by Heather Browning

Can We Get It Back

You used to look at me with eyes so warm. You used to want me like it hurt to not have me. We once shared a love that burned deep inside. We used to talk to each other like we were the only ones around. Where did you go? Where did we go? I used to follow you, you were my way out. Fast or slow, it didnt matter, wherever you went there i was. We used to have this figured out, every step along the way. And the detours were just enough to help us hold tighter. The nights were clear, the first star I saw was the direction to your heart. And the dawn of the new day meant one more day with you. You used to lean on me like the only other choice was falling down. We used to have this under control, we never though, we used to know. I miss the love we had, i miss the nights waiting on you. But at least theres still you, and at least theres still me. Can we get this back, to how it used to be?
