Can We Talk Poem by Ariel Miles

Can We Talk

Can I build up the courage to say hello
Instead of melting when you look at me...
I see you with your ex
& I must confess
that instead of you & her
I see you & me
& when you look me up & down
as I pass by slowly
from the corner of my eye
I see
If I could build up the courage to talk to you
Instead of her hugging you
It would be me
