Can You, Will You? Poem by Lindsay King

Can You, Will You?

Everything seems to stop
When you walk on by
My friend says you're cocky
But I know that you're not
I want to tell you everything
That I've felt for so long
Can you reciprocate this time?
Will you hold me like this forever
And not just as a friend?
Will you tell me that I'm not imagining
This great intensity that we share?
Can you, will you?

I walk off alone
But you follow me closely
It's been a rough few months
For the both of us
I want this to be the reward
That we both so deeply deserve
Can you tell me that this means something?
Will you reassure me positively
That I'm not living in a fantasy?
Can you just go and make your move?
Can you, will you?

If the moment of truth comes
I hope the words fill my mouth
And not my head
I'd love to hear the same back
You're a beautiful man
The one I've never had
And I want to be the best thing
That you'll ever have
So can you, will you?
