Cancerous Love Poem by David Orioli

Cancerous Love

The mind and heart are severed
But now are tethered
The heart skips a beat
While the brain sinks in defeat
In the middle they must meet
Or all that is endevoured
Shall silently retreat.
The mind that seeks security
But the heart may lack in purity
Can give the other shame
While denying any blame
In vain lies the flickering flame
Shedding Love's maturity
Leaving it untame
I must see with my heart for in the mind's eye
Is a labyrinth of youth breeding lie with lie
