Candle Poem by Naseeba Babale

Candle

Candle

My smile lies in the shade
Of trees whose seeds I sow with
My hands

My face lightens when the moon
Lights the sky, knowing I'm the
Sun that feeds its rays

My heart dances when I see the
Rivers flowing in our midst for
I'm the sea nourishing their course

My joy lives in the voice of
Singing birds, for I'm the beat
Dictating their tune

I'm a candle who lights others
While I burn
