Candle Lit At Both Ends Poem by Victoria Gauci

Candle Lit At Both Ends

Rating: 5.0

In you I see the candles lit at both ends,
A fascinating life with many good friends,
You view the world from your own vantage point,
Like a comfy bar stool in your favorite joint,

Admiring the foibles of the passersby,
Taking it in and then letting' it slide,
Each moments that come an achievement is made,
A check mark made next to the grade,

Life lessons in learning put in your pocket,
Out of your mouth spring words like a rocket,
Over and over until something makes sense,
All the while you view from the fence,

An observer of men and their daily rites,
Pissing and hissing all through the fight,
Taking each one like a new glass of wine,
Thinking that the vino will make everything fine,

At the end of each day it all comes together,
You're up you're down just like the weather,
Interesting enough it's all just a game,
You do it for power, women and fame.
