Capture Poem by Dave Dunn

Capture

Oh this need to capture,
all the thoughts that come to mind,
catalogue and present them,
be they harsh memories, or kind.

For all have their own value,
to pass on to those that follow,
thoughts on events they may too ponder,
with some fondness or some sorrow.

Hesitate and they are gone again,
who knows when they may return,
some I feel the outlines of are lingering,
but more often my efforts they do spurn.

And then there are those focussed points,
that come from deep down pondering,
those that answer questions slumbered upon,
so at last I can suggest such offerings.

Never has my hand written as fast,
as all those thoughts come a tumbling,
so many illegible notes have I gathered,
which is why these computers are a blessing.

Each of us has much to offer from our memories,
hopefully we can capture most of those,
to pass on to our friends and families,
so their own sense of self, blossoms and grows.
