Caravaggio Poem by John Fenton Mcleish

Caravaggio

Wanted dead or alive for murder too
Oh, Caravaggio what did you do
Star of the Renaissance, price on your head
Struck the popes officer then arrested

With sword by your side you tempted your fate
What genius you did encapsulate
A baroque master so brilliant
And yet led a life so delinquent

A brief existence but how you did shine
Unfortunately you ran out of time
For the Knights of Malta did hunt you down
Enemies you made, upon you did frown

Oh, Caravaggio what did you do
Wanted dead or alive as I am too
