Ravenous these critics of odes
“Bring us more” their refrain!
We will show who really rules.
Tread not these waters, our domain.

Our metered barbs will zing and sting
your voices rendered moot and mute.
We rule! Archaic the language spoke.

But time does slow the ‘grammared’ foes
starkly the blooms first show
in barren lands of dead and gone

Fields then appear, multi hued
varieties unknown to old regimes
life does live in poems new.
