An Apple By Any Other Name... Poem by C H Sund

An Apple By Any Other Name...

“The apple, reddish plump,
hanging from rooted branch
beckoning to be taken, tasted
to savor deep, sweet, sweet flesh.”

Now these simple words penned
in poetic form take meaning more
as readers ponder the hidden core.
Surely a metaphor they surmise…

Maybe a lady… virginal and all
waiting to be taken in whatever way
or the sinly sin, snake charming bites.
On the mind goes, pondering poets play.

And timid hands keep downward pose
as the poet posts and waits replies
but one lone soul does venture forth
and braves a response to poet’s prose

“I think it is about eating an apple! ”

Absolutely fantastic hahahaha. Sometimes when I read poems the metaphors are so far out there they make no sense yet people will comment ' wonderful use of metaphors' I think if the poem is hard to understand people think it's great haha

Okay, I'll bite ;) Interesting poem...like a challenge to partake of your artistic fruit. This is a very nice free verse, well written, and fun to read. Thanks.
