Careful Who You Love Poem by Ludolf Dauphin

Careful Who You Love

Love opens our hearts to strangers
bits and pieces at a time
seeking acceptance
Trusting and leaping
seeping into our consciousness
Hoping the right choice has been made
Disappointed WE GET
even lucky at times
WAY too many times we get ripped apart
crushed beyond beliefs
for someone's selfish needs

Some are able to move on
others not so lucky learned the hard way
some never learned
decided to hang on anyway,
hoping things work out
Even blaming themselves
thinking rules don't apply
Giving others controlled
only to get disillusioned again

then again promises made
broken then abandoned
falling into the abyss
so much time wasted

questions raised in our mind
aimed at ourselves,
so much inner doubt
blaming our judgment
if only, if only we've done this
instead of that
so be careful who you love
