Caregiver's Lament Poem by Shalom Freedman

Caregiver's Lament

CAREGIVER'S LAMENT

To be a servant a slave
To have to in one's old age
Listen to and do all the time
What someone else tells you
To sacrifice your time
To the will and demand of others
To not be free

To be a servant a slave
In one's old age
To not be free
Self- contemptuously.
