Carlie Poem by Sydney Hatch

Carlie

Your leaving again, for an adventure you say
Traveling North, out Bush, it's time, I hear you say
Not been well, things not the best just now
But you threw in your job, like when you left home
Some say you're doing a runner, just like before
You sure it's packing up to go or are you packing it in
Change does not mean your clothes, it's you Carlie
Life's colored by your thoughts, they shape your tomorrow
We talked, you listened, then you walked, remember
The vodka helped, just for a day, or so you say
Work failed to find you while you lay in the hay
Matter of time really, not returning their calls
Black thoughts, black days and darker nights
They will be waiting for you, you know
At the end of every bush track, your thoughts
Shaping your day, moulding your life
