Carpenter 2 Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Carpenter 2

In the old town
There lives a carpenter
By night.
By night you hear
His work-sounds but
Not more.
Not more!
Neighbors objected
In vain so many
Times.
The carpenter was there
And
He remained too there!
All lost their hopes
Desires waned
Emotions flattened.
Yet
Then one rare Dawn
A flute was heard to sing
Stopped the work-sounds
Of the carpenter
The flute to the sea-port
It went and then
Into the sea
Into the first lights went
And
Since that day
The carpenter away
Has not been heard
And
Neighbor object not
No need of hopes
Desires lit as fires
And so emotions lit.
You see
My Monsignor how
In our life
We fret so many times
And fret and fret and fret
And more disappointed we
We grow:
Till
Life herself and things
Solve problems oft and so.
The lesson in the verse.
