Carry Me Home Poem by Matt Burgett

Carry Me Home

Rarely it is for me to see
Someone as rare as you
To say that you love me

Even on the saddest days
And those of which I am numb
I can still always imagine
When you bite my tongue

I love you
And you love me
It's almost perfect
But could it ever be

But then I think
When I look up at the sky
You're too good for me
Then tears come to my eyes

But only in my wildest dreams
Do I imagine myself as brave
To get myself in trouble
Then become your slave

I would carry you
Through the pouring rain
I would carry you
To stop all of your pain

And I would carry you
Through the blazing heat
I would carry you
So you won't hurt your feet

And I'd carry you home
Through all of this
I'd carry you home
Then finish with a kiss
