Cast A Giant Shadow Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

Cast A Giant Shadow

You may cast a giant shadow,
Even if you are demure.
Whether male or female it matters not,
But your heart must be true and pure!

David cast a giant shadow,
But could not see atop the giants head,
Until he held it in his hands,
Causing the Philistine to fall down dead!

You may cast a giant shadow,
Especially as a ship so tall!
But when you’re in a harbor sinking,
The tug you need is very small!

You may cast a giant shadow,
In the classrooms of our nation’s schools.
The largest shadow cast of all my teachers,
Was just a hair above five feet two!

Parents can cast giant shadows,
In the minds of children everywhere.
For if you teach them by example,
You tell the whole world that you care!
