Castaways Poem by J.B. LeBuert

Castaways

Rating: 5.0

Castaways, worth less than dirt
Discarded, never again to be pert
Torn from the tapestry of style
Thrown onto the giant trash pile

Leftovers, left for another day
Junk or treasure, I won't say
Who'll take the rightful measure
Useless refuse, or maybe a treasure

Most of our lives are cast away
We even forget how to play
Don't cast away your youth
Forsooth, don't lose the truth

Cast away most, but save the best
Your castaways should be put to the test
Are you really done with that
Or do you need, that welcome mat
