Change Her Name From "Ichabod" Poem by Frank Adie

Change Her Name From "Ichabod"

Rating: 5.0

Once the giant of Africa, now "Ichabod"
"The glory has departed from Nigeria"
Our country is overflowing with blood
The happiest nation has lost her euphoria.

We must come together and redeem our nation
Ethnicity and religion must be dethrone
We must shun self-interest and faction
And make Peace and unity our cornerstone.

Our children's future is at stake
We must desist raising them in anarchy
We must fix this country for their sake
We must enthrone democracy and break the stronghold oligarchy

Arise O compatriots, arise!
Let's bandage the wounds of our motherland
Nigeria must not bleed to death, otherwise,
One day, we will all wake up to a wasteland.

We must start today, and we must start now
To lay the foundation for a new beginning
A better Nigeria is possible, don't ask how.
We must start working and keep believing.

May God bless Nigeria.
