Chapters Of Life Poem by ian adams

Chapters Of Life

Years disappear amidst lifes flow
nature bequeath a tender sigh
destinys course a golden diadem
flows pensive with lifes tide

Young as i was a boy of twelve
when upon me tragic did wrought
warm the tears that wet my cheeks
my heart with anguish fraught

My father bent with solemn years
that upon him proud and deep
was i found him in that perilous hour
reposed with the tide of sleep

Lifes ocean of vicissitude
waves toil upon the shore
a surge of desolate feelings
like sand of time does forge

Heart sublime
i sat with time
sagacious ways
of life

A maiden fair
with auburn hair
i betroth her
for my wife

refulgent years
felicitious tears
brim from our
hearts of joy

oh! beautiful wife
concieve a life
from our love
a little boy

Little boy when you rest
my soul in waves of joy
dance and quiver from my heart
that here within this feeling starts
like a kittens sprightly joy

Sweet boy gentle dreams you dream
through hours you slumber beguile
not has there grown a lovelier flower
that nature blooms in glade or bower
as your face in sleep you smile

Little heart you throb and beat
with emotions yet to burn
life ahead of you attain
be free from sorrow and pain
as your pages of fate are turned

Long i stand by you and gaze
upon your soft and rosey cheeks
lays a hue that gleams so fair
my eyes are dim with tears i stare
my heart you have turned weak

unexpected turbulent storms
endured of common strife
emotions as melancholy seas
glideth through our life

Sand of time within this glass
each grain therein an hour
fate and destiny is measured
within this crystal tower

Watching each grain that falls
counting each passing hour
the hand of fate gleams bone
as it turns lifes crystal tower.
