Charcoal Bride - Poem by Rik Bertrand

I have found beauty, in a sketch old and forgotten,
Its charcoal prism, has taken hold of my soul.
There is a spirit within the stokes of this artistry
And it has captured my heart and won't let go.

This maiden, this queen, this princess in waiting,
Has me spooled in thought and my heart debating.
I look at this drawing and it looks back.
The mystery is alluring, the shadowing attracts.

The lines and the shadows turn me to stone,
When I hold this drawing I am so not alone.
The spirit within, the touch, the compassion
The brush strokes must have been made,
With love and sweet passion

The model for this portrait must be truly amazing,
I am sure she would start my heart just a blazing.
Would you thing a self portrait, this drawing could be,
I know if I could find her our love would agree.

This charcoal drawing of beauty and grace.
With its spiritual aura, that sets my heart a race.
I treasure these feeling deep down in side
And dream of this beauty as my long lost bride.

REB (MARCH 2012) because this drawing touches my soul
