Chasing Feather Poem by Chukwuebuka Adebayo

Chasing Feather

I've seen an antelope in an okra farm
He's like a man toiling to succeed with his own valour;
Diving into the deep and drifting with
He wakes up as quick as time ticks
Returns as fast as empty can on canal flows.

Often stuck at the bar, reflecting on the past
He long for peace hidden between contentment
And life has no much of his control
Stalking after what can't be gotten
It is Like chasing a flying feather

Scared of what to be, with fake smiles
I need someone to understand my grapples
I'm part of something bigger than seven of me
I wish to fly but the sky is too far
Fear of failing helplessly as twig from a bird.

And the young knows that the old ones will go
And i do know that love is deceitful
And how foolish is to cherish is.
And what do pleasures from riches accomplish?
All is like chasing feather.
