Chasse Poem by @claremariewithpoetry Clare Marie Dennington

Chasse

.
Darlin'
Why walk when you can chasse?
All diamonds, and silk, and
A leather purse.
You take one avenue, maybe two,
The sunlight hits skin in deliciously warm ways,
But the shade, too, takes you down into
The coolness of damp, and fern fronds,
And fish ponds,
And things that don't live in the city.

The lilac hits your nose,
And you, you are vibing vanilla,
There are other worlds waiting for you,
Ones you only sensed past daylight,
Two worlds from the lamplight
At the end of that house,
That driveway,
That Avenue.

At the end of that string of pearls,
That you turn again and again,
As your feet hit against pavement
But your head points to clouds.
Daydreams are made of cloud gazing,
They smell like lilac,
There are Koi in those ponds, that reflect the clouds,
At your feet.
