Check Out Poem by Alma W. Hudson

Check Out

We come to the checker
As life nears its end
To have our list totaled
How much did we spend
Did we give love and caring
As much as we should
Does our cart overflow
With kindness and care
Will life's greatest checker
Be counting us there
As he rings up our list
Will it finally compare
With the good will and kindness
That we're asked to share
As we reach in our pocket
To pay the accounting
Will the cost be too high
Will it keep right on mounting
Or will that great checker smile
And say with a flair
Walk right on through, friend
You've paid your full share
