Chess Reversal

On a balanced board
where the queens hold the power,
a forced exchange of them
defeminised, masculated the board
and turned the attack on the attacker,
who soon saw,
bearing down,
a new, unrivalled squaw.

or scratch my head,
was it a squaw-exchange
doing the masculation,
and a new, unrivalled queen
who was being seen?
