Chickens And Eggs And Darwin Poem by Lone Dog

Chickens And Eggs And Darwin

Which came first - the chicken or the egg?
It's a question we all should consider,
And it's great for a lively family discussion
At breakfast, or lunch or at dinner.

Now, I know that you're smart and can use your head,
And you're probably good at deduction,
But the person who's smartest of all, I would think,
Is the one who first thought of the question.

You'll agree that the chicken did not come first
`Cause a chicken must hatch from an egg,
So if someone insists that the chicken came first
It is clear that he's pulling your leg.

But, conversely, the egg could not have come first.
If it did, then I'd ask you, 'What laid it? '
And if someone insists that the egg did come first,
Please ignore him `cause he's - - 'just not with it'.

Now, if neither the chicken nor egg came first,
The solution is clear to me
The chicken and egg are both solid proof
Darwin's theory's as right as can be.

It's clear that both chicken and egg evolved,
And together changed bit by bit
From prior, more primitive forms of life.
It's as simple as that, I submit.

So, if you'd like to know the gospel truth -
Whether Darwin's theory is right;
Just think of the question of chicken and egg
And I know that you'll see the 'light'.
