Childhood Memories Poem by Gill Moore

Childhood Memories

We'd cycle down the leafy lanes
in sunshine - never showers
past primrose posies bluebell woods
and not go home for hours
to Bradditch Pond and far beyond
as far as we could see
and then we'd spread our picnic out
jam sandwiches for tea
to Ridley Church and Darenth Pools
where kingfishers -like brilliant jewels
would dart along the river banks
for those halcyon days
I just give thanks
