Chilly Winter Evening Mist Poem by Natasa To

Chilly Winter Evening Mist

Mist falls softly by the threshold,
A biting winter eve; the breeze stirs, hushed and still.
The road is veiled in cloudy hues,
A figure fades into the distance of the desolate day.

Trees stand silent in the autumn air,
Dry leaves whisper a lullaby to life.
A faint, familiar scent drifts by,
Wafting me back to skies of long ago.

The winter evening chills the porch,
Yet warmth lingers in the ache of longing.
Though separated by but a single road,
A deep yearning fills the entire afternoon.

Mist drapes the lonely path in white,
The sun slips away; the evening light grows dim.
If one day you should return,
Please bring a touch of lingering sunlight... to warm the winter.
