Choices Poem by Jean Renwick

Choices

I cannot compete with the beauty of God
but i am familiar with the pull of tranquillity offered
as once it seemed to be the only salve
for wounds unspoken, for unfacible truths.
With whom shall i share the sun’s warm caress,
the rain’s liquid touch if you leave
for a life of little shine and less rainbows.

I cannot compete with the love of God
but it is our journey to try
as i can only try with you if you wish it.
Don’t run and hide away
and be afraid to love other than God.
Love is the supreme of God’s gifts.

I cannot compete with the freedom of God
but when his love and your freedom are reconciled
i will be here
waiting.
Because there is no competition
only participants and choices.
And love.
