Cholistan Desert Poem by Dr Shamim Ali

Cholistan Desert

In the heart of the desert, where the nights are long,
And the sands of time, sing their eternal song,
There lies a place, so serene, so vast,
That takes us on a journey, a memory, that lasts.

The Cholistan desert, so wild and free,
A canvas, so vast, that humans can hardly see,
A symphony of sounds, so unique, so rare,
That fills us, with awe, and a sense of care.

Under the starry skies, we camped and waited,
The winds so strong, and the scenery, so animated,
The bonfire, a warm comfort, in the cold night,
As we basked in the beauty, of the starry sight.

The silence, so profound, that it roared with might,
Echoing the stories, of an ancient plight,
Of merchants, traders, and nomadic clans,
Who traversed through these dunes, to far-off lands.

And as we lay, beneath the moonlit sky,
Watching the shadows, as they pass us by,
We were united, in our love, and our thirst,
For adventure, for life, and to quench our zest.

For the Cholistan desert, is not just sand and dust,
It's the memory, that remains, in each of us,
Of unforgettable nights, of a journey so vast,
That fills us, with memories, that forever last
