Christ Of Saint John Of The Cross Poem by Denis Martindale

Christ Of Saint John Of The Cross

There is a painting of the scene, the day they killed the Nazarene,
As John and Mary, side-by-side, surveyed the Cross on which Christ died.
And yet we see Christ from above, beholding Him, the King of Love,
As if we see the Father's view, of Christ who died for me and you.
Beyond the pathos and the shame, behold the Man who took the blame,
The sorrows of His flesh that day, so Christ could take our sins away.
Yet praise God Jesus rose from death, obtaining life, obtaining breath,
And preach of Christ who shed His Blood, to prove He was the Son of God.
Praise God for John and Mary, too, as witnesses for me and you,
Because their steadfast love persists in all of Christ's evangelists
Who tell us what THE BIBLE SAYS, while we, in wonder, say our prayers...
