Christmas List Poem by Ali Adel

Christmas List

The first thing on my Christmas list is scissors
To cut away this wall that's blocking me from you
I should be your misses and you would be my mister
To love and cherish through good and bad, 'I do'

How I wish upon a star that you and me could become 'we'
But there's one little problem with this perfect little dream
You have no idea my love for you hurts
And you never will, 'cause she's the one that makes you smile and sigh
Do you know I watch you when you look at her?
I see that little twinkle in your eye
The one I hate with all my heart
Yet never will I make it depart

So what's the point? Why am I here?
Daydreaming when you're far away, wishing you were near
To hear your laugh, to touch your skin
I want this love to just begin

But here I lay with this paper and pen
Writing about dreams that'll never start
Just for the hell of it, I'll wish once again
And hope this time you'll save my heart
