City's Joy Yet Clown Poem by chris lang

City's Joy Yet Clown

Mr. popular smiles oblivious
He walks and spits at your peasant feet
Walking with women that we call pretty
And knows that he is well known by all.
Name remembered and legend at school
And for that matter, the city
Praised, gifted, idolized the least
But literature inconspicuously bashes him.
His mind becomes a mess and lost
The names unheard yet higher
Broken becomes, and shattered soul
His only goal is diminished
And the last day was this.
